@olmari:hacklab.fiSami OlmariYes, I (also) agree that bridge needs to do as "1:1" mapping as possible for existing chats... I think mainly this hinges on what should be done when user leaves matrix-room, and/or if some command is warranted... 14:01:13
@cos:hacklab.ficosIMO message requests should be ignored by bridge. They are shown in separate place in fb web. 14:05:26
@cos:hacklab.ficosI cleaned about 100 message requests from local ladies wanting to meet me, I hope they won't come back 14:06:04
@tulir:maunium.nettulirI think message requests aren't supported yet14:06:14
@tulir:maunium.nettulirthe bridge doesn't request the separate message requests inbox14:06:50
@cos:hacklab.ficosNot sure what those empty rooms from "Facebook User" are except them. I'd guess they are requests from deleted users but (for some reason) still in message request inbox.14:07:19

I get „⚠ Your message may not have been bridged: failed to parse mercury response: got invalid metadata type, cannot proceed with type assertion: <nil>” when trying to send images though element x to messenger but images sent on messenger app do appear fine in element. The issue appeared only recently, I did work before
This issue seems fixed with the new docker builds, will see if it breaks again

@bboi00:matrix.orgbboi00 Tulir is there a somewhat straightforward setup if I want to use meta for bots? It's so simple with whatsmeow I love it but meta seems to be more interlinked with mautrix so there is no simple mdtest to run like in whatsmeow 18:57:09
@tulir:maunium.nettulir the library is in the messagix package and should technically be usable outside the bridge (by importing go.mau.fi/mautrix-meta/messagix), but it's very messy and will be refactored later (meaning lots of breaking changes) 19:01:38
@bboi00:matrix.orgbboi00Ok I understand, thank you for letting me know!19:06:47

Wonderings:

I know the basic conceptual differences between modes of facebook and messenger, I know latter was just introduced... Is there meaning to keep both indefinitely? Also would everything need to be login again if one changes mode from facebook to messenger?

22:51:39
@olmari:hacklab.fiSami OlmariI suppose my goal is to determine if long term we'd be better off with messenger, as in theory it is usable without the so called facebook part, and should not impose any lesser experience22:53:06
@tulir:maunium.nettulirI know facebook cookies work with fb tor, but didn't test migrating to messenger22:54:26
@tulir:maunium.nettulirboth will probably remain supported, might even be supported simultaneously without separate config in the future22:55:01
@olmari:hacklab.fiSami Olmarimm... "user choice" would be kind of awesome in there indeed... oh well, I'm in no rush to mangle this now, but gathering information :)22:56:00
